Summer 1 Week 1

Welcome back after the holidays, we hope you all had a wonderful break. The children have gotten taller over the break and they are demonstrating their readiness for moving on into Year One.

We've had a wonderful first week back where we have been learning all about whether certain foods come from a plant or an animal. We are really enjoying learning about the farm and the different animals that live there.

We have been showing off our number skills by doubling our numbers 1- 10. We are becoming very confident at using our phonic knowledge in our independent writing.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Spring 2 Week 8

This week was very exciting as we got to perform our 'Three Billy Goats Gruff' show for all of the parents and families. We thoroughly enjoyed being on stage, singing our songs and carrying out the actions. Could you recognise us in our costumes, we loved getting all dressed up.

As the children have worked so hard this term, as a special treat we enjoyed an ice-cream delight! We chose between chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. We actually ran out of chocolate ice-cream as it was so popular.

We hope you all have a fabulous week off, with lots of fun and exciting adventures, catching up with friends and soaking up the sunshine. This is  a perfect time for us all to relax and re-energise for our final term of Reception. Happy holidays!

Spring 2 Week 7

We have been very busy this week practicing for our Three Billy Goat's Gruff performance next week. The children have been concentrating so hard, singing and dancing and following the instructions so well. We are so proud of them and can't wait for you to see us. The performances are Monday(10th) at 8am and Tuesday(11th) at 12pm. We had our dress rehearsal today and both the children and teachers really enjoyed it.

On Monday we all participated in the Spelling Bee. We had to stand at the microphone

and spell lots of different words. We all did really well and had great fun competing. Well done to the winners!

We are very excited about using our Samsung Tablets to develop our phonic skills and recording skill. We discussed how we can help at home and we recorded what we said. This was great fun learning how to record and also take pictures.

Spring 2 Week 6

This week we have been looking at the story of 'The Storm Whale'. We have been thinking about how the whale would be feeling and how the boy looked after the whale. We watched some videos about real whale rescues and how the kind people helped the whales get back in the sea.

We wrote a letter to a friend telling them all about the storm whale on the beach. This was the first time we have wrote letters and there was some new things to learn and remember!

We have been revising phonics sounds ai, ee and igh and have been practicing cursive handwriting of the letters t u and y.

This week we have been practicing really hard for the production of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We can't wait for you to come and see it!

We wish you a nice restful weekend in the sunshine and look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

Spring 2 Week 5

This week we have been developing our estimating skills in Maths. This is a very clever skill where we have to guess the amount without counting the objects. We also discussed the different stages of human life, we start as a baby and then all the stages we grow through to become an adult and then an elderly person. We really enjoyed finding out about all the different ages.
In Phonics we have been focusing on recognising our Phase 3 sounds and we will be becoming digraph detectives where we have to find the sounds in stories, texts and signs.
We really enjoyed our trip to the Theatre to see Aladdin and The Magic Lamp. We had four mini buses to bring us to the Souq Waqif Theatre. We walked through to the Souq which was very exciting to see all the jewels in the shop windows. We had really comfy seats and we got to sit right down at the front. The music was really lively and the genie was very funny.
